George A. Romero
(1940 - 2017)
Tribute
I was a HUGE fan of the late George A. Romero (1940 - 2017). He passed away from Lung Cancer sadly in July, 2017. He was surrounded by Loved Ones and was listening to the soundtrack of The Quiet Man. He had worked with the likes of Dario Agento, Tom Savini and a lot of Hollywood cast and crew before making it to the BIG TIME with the likes of Ed Harris.
I first laid my eyes on Dawn of the Dead (1978) in 1991 after a WWF/WWE PPV called SummerSlam that year. My dad had told me about this gruesome Zombie Film and I was hooked, since. During this era, I watched and kinda re-watched Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Day of the Dead (1985). Zombies were BIG BUSINESS, yet it achieved cult-like Horror status, too in the 90's for myself.
Romero was also a Story-Writer for the MARVEL Comic Book: "Empire of the Dead!". The late film-maker was also a Comic Book fan, hence films like the Creepshow (1981) Horror Anthology Series and Tales Fro the Darkside! (TV Series).
Romero also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, after his death - REST IN PEACE. Uncle George.
